Hickory Ridge Concert Series: Peoria Musician Barry Cloyd At December Hickory Ridge

Join us Saturday, December 20, 2008 for a celebration of the holidays as the Hickory Ridge Concert Series presents Peoria musician Barry Cloyd at 7:30 p.m. at the Dickson Mounds Museum. Cloyd is a Midwestern based, touring singer/songwriter/guitarist/educator who has spent a lifetime creating a performance style that weaves the genres of Celtic, Blues, Folk and Roots music into a unique blend all his own.
A strong vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, theatrical performer and historian, Barry will be performing an evening of Traditional Christmas and Winter solstice music and original songs on 6 and 12 string guitars and banjo. Cloyd brings the music to life not through his performance, but with the telling of the history and background of the songs themselves. He will be performing selections from his acoustic Christmas CD "Yuletide Fire". Along with his solo performances, Barry Cloyd is the co-founder of the Prairie Folklore Theater that presents original, educational performances throughout the Midwest.
The Museum Society Gift Shop will be open to Coffeehouse goers in December.
The Hickory Ridge Concert Series is hosted by singer-songwriter Chris Vallillo. Concerts are held the 3rd Saturday of every month at Dickson Mounds Museum and begin at 7:30 p.m. with the museum lobby opening at 6:30 p.m. Coffee, drinks, and a variety of desserts are available during intermission. There is an admission charge of $5.00 per adult — $3.00 for children under 12. Sitting is limited to the first 150 people.
