Emiquon Partners Science Lecture Series

The next installment of the popular Emiquon Partners Science Lecture Series will be Sunday, May 13, 2012, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This presentation is titled "Not Just Pretty Flowers: Restoration in the Age of Global Change". Amy McEuen is an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) where she teaches courses in ecology, environmental biology, and statistics. She holds a PhD in Terrestrial Ecology and an MS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Michigan. Her expertise is in conservation biology focusing on plant communities. She and her students have been studying the tallgrass prairie restoration that began at Emiquon in 2007. Join her for a prairie flower “Walk and Talk” at the Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon on Mother’s day, May 13, 2012. The Field Station is located at 11304 N. Prairie Rd., near The Nature Conservancy office. Dr. McEuen will discuss ecosystem services provided by restoration activities and some basics of prairie ecology and plant identification. This will be followed by a leisurely walk in search of spring flowers in the tallgrass prairie restoration sites near the field station.
