Hickory Ridge Concert Series: The Old Time Country and Blues Revue Performs at Dickson Mounds
- Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
- Date: Saturday, December 17, 2011, 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Ring in the season on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 7:30 pm when The Old Time Country and Blues Revue return to the Hickory Ridge Concert Series at the Dickson Mounds Museum. Featuring D.K. Kolar on guitar, Dobro, slide guitar, banjo, and vocals and Pete Norman on guitar, mandolin, banjo, ukulele and vocals, The Old Time Country and Blues Review is one of the all time favorite acts appearing at Hickory Ridge. They present a delightful collection of old music played the way your grandfather might have heard it! DK and Pete perform tunes ranging from Tin Pan Alley, Old-Timey, Blues, Ragtime, Bluegrass, Traditional Country and home-grown songs. Both are veteran performers in their own right who started performing together in 2002 when their mutual love of picking and old music brought them together at Pete’s annual Post Christmas Blues Fest in Downer’s Grove, IL. Drawing on the musical pioneers of the past, Pete and DK bring to life the songs that helped form our unique American musical heritage from Appalachian born songs of life, fun and hard times, to the blues of the South to original songs done with an old time twist. Their love of the music and excellent skills as performers will get your toes tappin’, get you singing along, and give you an appreciation of the heritage of much of today’s “modern” music. The museum Gift Shop will be open that evening for your last minute shopping for that extra special person.
