- Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
- Date: Sunday, June 17, 2012, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
The Dickson Mounds Museum presents More Than Bows and Arrows on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The Museum is bringing this event back by popular demand. Visitors will learn life sustaining skills, such as throwing spears, creating arrows by pressure flaking, using pump drills, cultivating with a stone hoe, and fire-starting. View demonstrations of stone tool making, primitive cooking, stone boiling, and cordage making. Visitors will see how a deer’s leg tendon was made into sinew, which was used to attach a stone point and feather fletching to an arrow. In addition, Illinois Department of Natural Resources will provide archery opportunities throughout the afternoon. Enjoy this Father’s Day at this great family event. More than Bows and Arrows is open to the public and admission is free. There will be activities for all ages.
