Hammered Dulcimer Workshop

Novice to Intermediate workshop on playing hammered dulcimer will be offered on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Dickson Mounds Museum.

Judy Schmidt will be presenting the workshops. The daylong workshop will be broken into two sessions. The first session, novice, will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The intermediate workshop, a continuation of the first session, is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Judy is a former National hammered Dulcimer Champion and past Hickory Ridge Coffeehouse performer. Students will learn chords and songs in the morning session. In the afternoon session, the focus will be on improving playing techniques of the songs taught in the morning session. Songs will include jigs and carols.
