All About Genealogical Resources

  • Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
  • Date: Thursday, October 27, 2011, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Dickson Mounds Museum is hosting "All About Genealogical Resources" on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Jeff Hancks, Associate Professor at Western Illinois University (WIU) and manager of the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) and Mary Jo Willis, local genealogical expert and Fulton County Historical Society member, will present a two-part program focusing on the resources available for genealogical research. Hancks will explain how to navigate the IRAD system, while Willis will focus on research tips garnered from her personal experiences and genealogical resources available at local libraries. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion session where participants may share challenges and ask questions.

The lecture will run approximately 90 minutes in the Dickson Mounds Museum auditorium and admission is free. All ages are welcome. This program is a collaborative effort between Dickson Mounds Museum, the Fulton County Arts Council, and the Spoon River project. The Fulton County Arts Council is partially funded by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
