  Spring Rendezvous   

Spring Rendezvous

  • Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
  • Date: Saturday, June 04, 2011 through Sunday, June 05, 2011 , 8:30 PM - 8:30 PM

At Dickson Mounds Museum on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 & 5, 2011, the Mackinaw Valley Longrifle Association will be camped for a weekend Spring Rendezvous.
 
Members of the MVL Association will be on hand throughout the day to teach visitors about the lifestyles, survival skills, and rich cultural history of Illinois 18th and 19th century inhabitants.
 
The public is invited to visit their primitive encampment at the museum’s picnic hill and engage in blanket trading and knife-hawk throwing; view demonstrations of wooden spoon carving, fiber arts, fire making with flint and steel, and more.  Admission is free.
 
MVL members will also be part of The Nature Conservancy’s Grand Opening of the Visitor Use Area at Thompson Lake off Routes 78 & 97 Saturday, June 4, 2011. Visitors will have the opportunity to paddle on the lake with MVL members in DNR Voyageur canoes between Noon – 4:00 p.m. weather permitting.
