Hickory Ridge Concert Series: Celtic Band "The Shanties"

The Hickory Ridge Concert Series will bring in the new year with driving sounds of “New Irish” music as The Shanties take the stage Saturday, January 15 at 7:30 p.m. This Bloomington based celtic group has been performing around the state creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a party below deck of the Titanic.
In 2001 The Bloomington Pantograph named The Shanties “Best Local Irish Band”. While there is nothing sweeter than an Irish ballad, The Shanties focus on the up-tempo rowdier melodies of Ireland With Chris Golick on fiddle and guitar, John Parkhurst on mandolin and guitar, Jayson Griffith on bodhran and Kris Lewis Parkhurst on guitar, the group uses their performances as a celebration of Irish music and culture. The Hickory Ridge concert will be the CD release party for their recently completed first CD, “Fear Not” with songs from the new release featured throughout the night.
