THE PIN-HOLE CAMERA: A DEMONSTRATION AND PRESENTATION BY ISM CHICAGO GALLERY'S JANE STEVENS AND GUEST JEFF CRISMAN PIN-HOLE CAMERA POSSIBILITIES DATE: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2010, AT NOON Place: Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery, 100 W. Randolph, suite 2-100, in the James R. Thompson Center.
The pin-hole camera, a simple, light-proof, often hand-made camera, with no lens and a tiny aperture, can make images with only light and photographic paper. Using a camera made from a paint can, Jane Stevens, Associate Curator, Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery, will explain pin-hole photography and show images produced by that method. She will be joined by Jeff Crisman, Assistant Professor of Photography at Chicago State University, who will give a Power Point presentation on his extensive investigation of pin-hole imagery. The public is invited to join them and bring examples of their own pin-hole work.
This free program is in in conjunction with the City of Chicago’s Chicago Artists Month, sponsored by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.
While at the Gallery, see ON & OF PAPER: SELECTIONS FROM THE ILLINOIS STATE MUSEUM runs from October 18, 2010 through March 11, 2011, which presents works that use paper as a creative contributing element or as a foundation for technique.
