Carrying on Traditions: Native American Storytelling & Ledger Art
In conjunction with Chicago Artist Month and Native American Heritage Month, contemporary Native American artists will be exhibiting work in "Carrying on Traditions: Native American Storytelling & Ledger Art". Art has played a critical part in Native American culture, from recording important historical events in ledger drawings to passing on tribal history through storytelling. Both expressions remain vital elements in contemporary Native American art today. "Carrying on Traditions" will highlight the multi-tribal aspect of Chicago's American Indian Community by featuring a group exhibition by Native artists, in addition to sharing traditional storytelling. This Native American exhibition will be in the Atrium from October 3-7, 2011.
