Gallery Talk by Doug Stapleton

On June 16, co-curator Doug Stapleton will lead a Gallery tour of the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery's critically acclaimed exhibition Luminous Ground: Artists With Histories that features 11 major Illinois artists who have been an integral part of the social and cultural milieu from which today's art scene evolved. By spotlighting the exceptional work by these mature artists, the exhibit counters the emphasis on the youth culture that pervades the art world. The exhibition runs through August 26, 2011, and includes Ralph Arnold, Morris Barazani, Gerda Meyer Bernstein, Fred Berger, William Frederick, Theodore Halkin, Thomas Kapsalis, Vera Kement, Ellen Lanyon, Elizabeth Rupprecht, Leopold Segedin.
