Rabid Wolf Spider (Rabidosa rabida)

This spider can run quite fast, which may account for its name.

Description: The legs of this spider are light brown, as are the stripes on the cephalothorax. The abdomen is medium brown with lighter stripes and central dots. Note the prominent eyes in the image.

Habitat: This spider lives in grasses and leaf litter in woods. Its range is the eastern United States west as far as Oklahoma and Nebraska.
