Lampsilis siliquoidea (Fatmucket)
The fatmucket mussel shell is elliptical and compressed. The surface is smooth, yellow, yellowish green, or less often, tan, with green rays. It grows to five inches in length. This species lives in the mud, sand, or gravel of lakes and small to medium-sized streams. It has occurred throughout Illinois.
