Fusconaia flava (Wabash Pigtoe)
The Wabash pigtoe mussel shell is yellowish brown with a texture similar to cloth. The shell is triangular and moderately thick. It grows to three inches in length. It lives in the mud, sand, or gravel bottom of creeks to large rivers. It occurs throughout Illinois.
Conservation status: widespread and common
