Rudbeckia subtomentosa (Sweet Black-eyed Susan)
Sweet Black-eyed Susan grows in mesic prairies, low areas in upland prairies, and around streams. Plants can grow to six feet tall. The alternate leaves are toothed and hairy. Basal leaves are larger and stalked. At the top of the plant, several stalked flower heads appear in summer. Each head is two to three inches across and is composed of 6-20 yellow ray flowers and a conical brown disk.
