Phlox pilosa (Prairie Phlox)
Prairie Phlox grows in dry to mesic prairies and in sandy or rocky areas and oak savannas. The plant is about two feet tall, with hairy stems and leaves. The long, narrow, opposite leaves taper to a point.
Flowering season is from midspring to midsummer and fall. Flowers form a round, branching cluster. Each flower is a half-inch pink tube topped by five lobes.
