Echinacea pallida (Pale Purple Coneflower)
This specimen of Pale Purple Coneflower shows some roots and the base of the plant, as well as the stalked, tapered leaves.
This coneflower grows in dry and mesic prairies. It is also widely cultivated. Native Americans used the roots in making medicines.
