Echinacea pallida (Pale Purple Coneflower)
Pale Purple Coneflower grows in dry and mesic prairies across the tallgrass prairie region. Plants grow up to three feet tall. Leaves can grow up to ten inches long and one and a half inches wide. Leaves and stems have bristly hairs. At the top of each stem is one flower head that consists of a dark, brownish cone-shaped disk and petal-like ray flowers two-to-three inches long. The plant blooms in late spring through midsummer.
