Comandra umbellata (False Toadflax)
This specimen of False Toadflax shows several small stems along a horizontal root system. The plant grows in dry prairies, sandy areas, and open oak savannas. Alternate leaves are about 1 1/2 inches long. The white flowers in rounded clusters are formed from five white sepals. They bloom from midspring to early summer.
