Aster laevis (Smooth Blue Aster)
Smooth Aster grows in mesic to dry prairies and open savannas. It reaches up to three feet in height.
The bluish stem leaves are alternate and tapered. At and near the top of the plant are individually stalked flower heads (3/4" to 1 1/2" wide) with up to 25 blue ray flowers around a yellow disk. They bloom in late summer to fall.
