Asclepias sullivantii (Prairie Milkweed)
Prairie Milkweed grows in moist to wet prairies. It reachers three-and-a-half feet tall. The thick stems and large red-veined oval leaves are hairless. This specimen shows a cluster of dark reddish-pink flowers that appear in early summer, each an inch long on individual stalks. Seed pods are four inches long.
