A Family
Isaac Soyer (1902 - 1981)
lithograph on paper, circa 1937
13 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches
Isaac Soyer and his older twin brothers were artists in New York City. They arrived from Russia in 1912. Their style was in the Realist tradition, depicting people and their environment, such as in the example A Family.
The textures of this lithograph are the greasy pencil marks the artist draws on the stone or metal plate. The design is set chemically, dampened, then printed.
