Fred Becker (1913 - )
wood engraving on paper, circa 1935
10 x 8 inches
This landscape print is a wood engraving, which an artist makes by cutting a design into a block of wood with chisels and knives. The areas cut away will be the white areas of the print. The lines are finer in a wood engraving than in a woodcut. Becker used stippling (dots) and cross-hatching to create texture.
