Sweat Shop Boris Gorelick (1912 - 1984)
lithograph on paper, circa 1945 12 x 15 3/8 inches
The subject matter of this black and white lithograph reflects Gorelick's interest in worker's rights. The conditions of the sweatshop are shown in the worn faces of the workers, their hunched posture over machines for long hours, perhaps their lost beauty symbolized by the Venus-like mannequin.
