Zallman has assembled an object that references nest making. Gathering together the grit and gristle of the city, she has created a sculpture that alludes to both the safety of the archetypal nest and an unromanticized view of contemporary familial relationships. Kapok straw, steel wool, wire, wax, and a variety of unidentifiable other debris culled from the urban landscape meet our view. With a title that implies an abiding respect for her parents, she has created a work of subtle courage.
