Decorative band for garment

Bands were sewn to the bottom edge of fur coats with a closed front. The band is decorated with geometric designs made with a mosaic of reindeer fur and ringed-seal skin. The details of the design are matched in back and are sewn together with sinew threads.

Bands of this type were sewn to the bottom edge of fur coats with a closed front. The band is decorated with geometric designs embroidered in the center with silk and cotton threads and on the edges using appliqué, mosaic techniques, and stitching.

The designs are rendered with a mosaic of light and brown reindeer fur. Details of the design are matched in back and are sewn together with sinew threads.
