During the fifties, for 60 cents to a dollar, the young reader could receive a year's subscription to the antics of Tom and Jerry or the action-packed adventures of Roy Rogers, advertised by Dell as "clean and wholesome entertainment."

Roy Rogers, a popular television hero of the wild west, became famous as a singing cowboy in the early westerns of the big screen. On this comic book cover, he is featured with his horse Trigger.
