MISSISSIPPIAN SOCIETY
A reconstruction of some social activities in downtown Cahokia.
When anthropologists speak of society they are referring
to the relations between people:
- how they interact to accomplish their culturally

- how rules governing life events such as sexual
maturity, marriage, and death are enforced by the
concerns and priorities of interacting groups;
- the groups or associations people form to make sure
work is done and social obligations are met;
- which group or groups have political, religious, or
economic power;
- how groups gain power; and how that power is
exercised.
