Archaic people walked wherever they went. The only exception may be some form of boat, perhaps a dugout canoe made from a tree trunk, but archaeologists have yet to find evidence of Archaic water craft. Hunting, food gathering, searching for fire wood-all of it was done on foot. And, when it came time to move to another camp or village, all of their belongings were carried by hand. Could you pick up all of your belongings at the end of the fall and move them to your winter camp twenty miles away? Archaic people did not have many things. But each item was important because their lives depended on their tools and clothing.
