Brownbag Lectures: Big Things from Small Sites
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, November 19, 2014, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presented by Dr. Michael Conner, ISM Dickson Mounds Museum
Large prehistoric sites like Cahokia and Dickson Mounds provide a wealth of information on past societies. However, small sites can also produce important data and are especially useful for illuminating prehistory at a very human scale. This talk will review investigations at several small sites in Illinois and Missouri that provided useful data and that demonstrate how the requirements of construction-related archaeology can produce unexpected results in unexpected places.
