Satur-Play! Bubble Snakes

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Saturday, February 07, 2015, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Every Saturday is Super!
Experience Satur-Play! at the Illinois State Museum. Be drawn in by fun science experiments and art projects so entertaining and intriguing, you may forget you are learning! Recommended for the whole family and suggested for ages 3-10.

February Activities:

February 7 - Bubble Snakes: Make a long chain of bubbles with simple things you find around the house!

February 14 - Pumping Heart: Charles Drew was an African American scientist who first invented the blood bank. This Valentine's Day make a model heart to see how important pumping blood is to the human body.

February 21 - Recycled Art Sculpture: African American artist Mr. Imagination (Gregory Warmack) created one of a kind recycled art projects. This Saturday we will repurpose bottle lids to create a three dimensional sculpture.

February 28 - Tornado Tubes: The center of a tornado is called the vortex. See a tornado vortex with just a couple of bottles of water and lamp oil.

Satur-Play! is an engaging hands-on enhancement program for the Mary Ann MacLean Play Museum at the Illinois State Museum. This exciting new program features science and art activities that children and families can participate in while visiting the Play Museum. A different theme and activity will be offered each week on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Registration is not required. Free and open to the public. For more information, call the Education Section at (217) 782-5955.
