Story Time at the Museum: Catch the Beat

Story Time at the Museum: Catch the Beat

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Monday, February 09, 2015, 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM

In recognition of Black History Month, the February 9 program will feature jazz musician Mark McKnight reading Charlie Parker Played Be Bop by Christopher Raschka. McKnight will introduce children to various instruments and their sounds. Children will “catch the beat” while playing percussion instruments.

Join us the second Monday of each month at 10:00 a.m. for a program designed for preschool children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. Story Time will feature engaging stories and the chance for children to see and learn about objects from the Museum’s collections. The program  lasts 30-40 minutes. Registration is not required. Free and open to the public. For more information contact Elizabeth Bazan at ebazan@museum.state.il.us or (217) 782-5993. Story Time is sponsored by Bank of Springfield.
