Brownbag Lectures: Restless Genius: The Art of Preston Jackson

  • Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
  • Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Presented by: Bob Sill, Illinois State Museum, Curator of Art

Explore the insatiable creative appetite of one of Illinois’ artistic treasures. This talk will examine the many manifestations of Jackson’s art production. Viewers will get a sneak preview of the Richard Pryor commission (in- progress) and an overview of the artist’s multidirectional studio practice. Jackson is one of the featured artists in the current ISM Chicago FOCUS 4 exhibition. He is professor emeritus from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, founder of the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, and his work is in numerous public and private collections. He is the recipient of the highest honor bestowed upon citizens of the state—the Lincoln Academy of Illinois Lincoln Land Laureate.
