Epiaeschna heros (Swamp Darner)
Total length = 86mm
male
The Swamp Darner is dark brown with pale green markings on the thorax and abdomen. Its eyes are blue. The wings have a slight smoky cast. It grows as large as 3 1/2 inches long.
This species lives around ponds and slow streams. Females lay eggs in mud or plant stems.
