Genus Ptychobranchus

Class Bivalvia : Subclass Paleoheterodonta : Genus Ptychobranchus

Ptychobranchus fasciolarlis (Kidneyshell)
The interior of the Kidneyshell mussel shell has pearly white nacre. The pseudocardinal teeth are thick and triangular. The lateral teeth are short, almost straight, and heavy. The beak cavity is very shallow. Some females (see specimen above) have a groove or fold on the interior of the shell.
