Hyllolycaena hyllus (Bronze Copper)

The Bronze Copper is named for the purple iridescence on its brown and orange forewings. The hindwings feature an orange marginal band and row of black spots. The underwings are orange with black spots.

Adults fly in June and July. They live in open wet meadows and marshes. The females lay eggs on dock and knotweed, where the eggs overwinter.
