Blue Vervain grows in open wet areas such as wet prairies, pastures, marshes, and along streambanks. It grows three to six feet in height. The opposite leaves have short stalks and tiny lobes at their base. Lower leaves are larger. Flowers are on erect stalks in branched clusters at the top of stems. Each 1/4 inch wide flower has a five-lobed blue to purplish corolla and green clayx. It blooms from summer to fall.
