Dalea candida (White Prairie Clover)
This specimen of White Prairie Clover shows part of the deep root system of this drought-resistant plant that is found in dry to mesic prairies. The plant usually reaches about two feet in height. The leaves are made up of five to nine leaflets that measure about 1 1/2 inches long by 1/4 inch wide.
Flowering season is late spring to summer. A flower head consists of a cylindrical spike, on which appear and open, from the bottom up,rings of white flowers that are about 1/4 inch long, with a large petal, four smaller petals, and five stamens.
