Baptisia alba (White Wild Indigo)
White Wild Indigo grows in moist to dry prairies across most of the tallgrass prairie region, as well as along roadsides. The plants can grow as tall as six feet. The stems are smooth and brown. Leaves are made up of three leaflets on short stalks. Each white flower is about an inch long and stalked. It is formed from two side petals and an upper petal that fans out. The fruit is a pointed black seed pod. The plant flowers from late spring to midsummer.
