Helianthus pauciflorus (Stiff Sunflower)
Stiff Sunflower grows in dry upland prairies and savannas. The widely spaced opposite leaves are thick and pointed at both ends. The flower heads are from 2 to 4 inches across and consist of a dark disk surrounded by 10-23 yellow ray flowers that bloom from midsummer to fall.
