Helianthus grosseserratus (Sawtooth Sunflower)
This specimen of Sawtooth Sunflower shows the alternate leaves and broad flower heads in bloom. This sunflower is common in dry to wet prairies and pastures throughout the tallgrass region. It blooms from midsummer to fall. Plants range from two to six feet tall. Flowers are several inches across.
