Comandra umbellata (False Toadflax)
False Toadflax grows to about a foot tall in dry prairies, sandy places and open oak savannas. The roots can parasitize on other plant roots. The plant is yellowish-green with white flowers. The alternate leaves are about one and a half inches long on little or no stalk. The clusters flowers are less than one quarter inch long. They consist of five white petal-like sepals. These develop into brown fruits after flowering season, which is midspring to early summer.
