Cacalia atriplicifolium (Pale Indian Plantain)
Pale Indian Plantain averages three to five feet in height. It grows in dry to mesic prairies and open woodlands. It flowers from summer to fall.
The leaves diminish in size up the stem, the lower ones being up to a foot in length and shaped like maple leaves. The upper leaves are small, sometimes appearing only as bracts. Flowers appear in clusters at the top of the stems. The greenish-white flower head consists of five cylindrical disk flowers.
