Baptisia bracteata (Plains Wild Indigo)
This specimen of Plains Wild Indigo shows the hairy black seed pods with pointed tips. It also clearly shows the three-leaved leaflet with the two stipules at the base. Plains Wild Indigo grows in sandy and acidic prairies and savannas. It reaches about two feet tall, and blooms in mid-to-late spring.
