Canadian Milk Vetch grows in moist, low areas in prairies and along streams and edges of woodlands. It averages two-to-three feet tall, but can grow up to five feet tall. Leaves are pinnately compound with from 13 to 31 leaflets that are oblong and reflect that this plant is in the pea family.
Flowers are greenish-white, clustered into a tall form called a raceme. Each flower has one 3/4" hooded petal over two side petals. The plant blooms in summer.
