Aster laevis (Smooth Blue Aster)
This specimen of Smooth Blue Aster shows blue-petalled ray flowers on stalks on the top third of the stem. The bluish leaves are pointed and clasp the stem in an alternate arrangement.
Smooth Blue Aster grows in mesic to dry prairies and blooms from late summer to fall. Flowers are from 3/4" to 1 1/2" across.
