Crazy Quilt, ca. 1900
Made by Lydia Miller Beachy (1863 - 1925)
Although crazy quilts have been found in other Amish communities, they are usually contained crazy quilts, meaning the crazy pieced blocks are alternated with plain blocks or are set with sashing. Four Amish quilts in the ISM collection are assembled with pieced blocks sewn directly together. Fancy embroidery stitches are not usually seen on Illinois Amish crazy quilts.
