Basket on Point Quilt, ca. 1929
Made by Amanda Mast Schrock (1889 - 1973)
Baskets were one of the relatively few representational designs used by Amish quilters. Arthur Amish quilters often used blue in their quilts. Here it is accented with black and pink. The Museum's collection contains eight basket quilts, all made between 1920 and 1950.
The quilting, which shows up against the sateen, has double parallel lines in the basket blocks and feathered circles in the plain blocks.
