19 1/4 x 28 1/4 inches

Charles Schucker was born in Gap, Pennsylvania and received his art training at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, graduating in 1933. He joined the Illinois WPA easel program in Chicago after studying in Europe. Schucker taught in New York at New York University City College and the Pratt Institute (1946 - 1985).

In New York, he changed his style to become more abstract, adapting Pollack's gestural style and the colors of the Color Field painters. Men at Work was painted in an expressionistic style with strong colors and gestural brushstrokes.
