Silurian Reef Fossils

This album contains images of fossils from a Silurian Period reef 443 - 417 million years ago. During the Silurian, Illinois was south of the equator, which ran through what is now Washington state, Hudson Bay, and Greenland. Ocean reefs occurred in a band 30 degrees to the north and south of the equator. A shallow sea covered Illinois at this time.
